Going to pull my engine to work on the transom. Going to have to build an a-frame to do it. My questions is, once I pull the engine, what is the best way to store it and how do I move it ?
I don't think leaving it outside is a good option, but how will I move it once it is out ?
Any info appreciated.....

Ayuh,... If it's only for a month or 3,...
A properly mothballed motor will be comfortable sitting on a pallet, very well covered with a tarp, on your side lawn....

I hate those engine stands, especially the cheap ones. They are top heavy, hard to move around on anything but perfectly smooth concrete, and you have to take off the flywheel cover and couplers to get the engine on.
Cheap way would be to get a pallet, some wood blocks to set the engine level, and mount some heavy duty castors on it so it will move easily. You can even run it with this setup. Or build one the size you want.
If it has to stay outside, there are many corrosion guard type products, all of which I find better than WD40.

Re: storing engine after I pull it ?

When I replaced the engine in my previous boat, I first mounted it on a home-made rolling cart made from 2x6 lumber with 4 heavy duty wheels. I put on side ledges so I could bolt down the from engine mounts. That way I could run the engine on the stand, using a hose connection at low pressure, a fuel line to a gas can, and a portable dashboard with an ignition switch and a set of guages. I stored the engine in the ga6rage that way for 6 months while I worked on the hull. I think I have photos of the stand somewhere if that would help. Let me know. Hy

Use some lumber to shore it up on one of these $20 moving dollies from Harbor Freight.
