ok so i bought a new fuel line as i was restoring the boat and everything was good with the line and fuel. so today as im headed in to the marina the boat crapped out so i thought it was just running out of gas as the tank was low. so i put the line on the other tank and it turns but wont start and as i connect it and then prime it i hear a little air coming out at the connection between hte pump and tank. so my question is why would something like this happen and should i just get a new line or is there something i can do? thanks. you guys really helped wiht everything on my boat. here's one more.

Sounds like you got a bad fuel line. Fuel lines are not expensive, so its best to buy the best and not the cheapest.

Re: stranded by a fuel line.

Noticed something similar on my boat, When the fuel line was connected to one tank I could not get full RPM's out of the motor but motor ran great connected to the other tank.

I was prepping to launch the other day, with the fuel hose connected to the 'bad' tank I pumped the bulb and got fuel out of the hose - connector joint. I grabbed the tool kit I always carry in the boat, got the pliers and tightened the joint. Running fine ever since.

You do have a tool kit in your boat don't you ?

Here is a GREAT article on what tools and spares to carry in the boat: http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/06/columns/max/index3.htm

Re: stranded by a fuel line.

Kinda hard to give you advice since you didn't tell us what engine you have.

However if it is an OMC with the quick disconnect at the ends of the fuel line - check the small o ring at the female end of the connector. They are relatively easy to replace & cheap.
