Strange new water leak in sterndrive

After along outing yesterday, pulled boat out this morning and put the drive in a fresh tank to rinse out the salt water. When I cranked it I noticed it wasn't bubbling up the water in the tank like it usually does, and when I peered over the transom to see what was up, I saw this strong jet of water shooting out of a random spot on the upper sterndrive. Sort of pluggable with my finger. Here is a short video I made showing the leak:
. And attached is a photo with the hole circled. I'm thinking I can probably patch this with JB Weld ExtremeHeat or SteelStik or something like that. Anyone had anything like this happen or have other suggestions? My guess is that the impeller is pulling water in and that a bunch of it is shooting out this hole rather than coming all the way in to the heat exchanger, etc., which would maybe explain why there wasn't a bunch of exhaust bubbling in my rinse tank.

From what I can see it is the jet of water that OMC added to “cool” the ball gears. The down side is it causes water incursion in the upper gear case as the outer seal area on the drive side ball gear’s seal surface wears. If you were to pull the drive back enough to plug the holes would be an improvement.

Thank you Kenny. So you're saying it's not a new hole from corrosion but an intentional hole? I don't recall seeing this jet of water before but of course I could have missed it. Also when I cranked the motor in the rinse tank I was not getting any circulation - thought this hole might be the culprit. I think I can reach the hole from above, and I am wondering if anyone here has suggestions for best products to try. My online search suggests one of the JB Weld products like SteelStik or they have another one for wet applications.
