strange outdrive problem

have a early 70's mercruiser outrive with a 350 chevy motor. The outdrive seems to be slipping. is into neutral at about 1/3 throttle. It is either that or the rubber shock absorber on the prop has spun out. Is there an easy test or how about an easy fix? I'm kind of a newbie so any help would be great

Put a new prop on it & see if it goes away.....​
