Hello, So I picked up another boat......thought that the floor was solid......found out it wasn't.....

So here I am tearing the thing apart. Figure I know how they put boats together.....when all the sudden I got thrown a curve ball.

The boat is a 1980's Glastron Carlson 19CSS.

My issue is that the stringers DON'T run all the way front to back. I was tearing it apart and found out that each of the bulkheads that go side to side BISECT the stringers. is this correct? Normally, the stringers run all the way front to back, but this one appears to have the stringers completely cut at the 2 bulkhead locations. Should I put it back together the way I "think" it should go, or put it back together the way it was? here is a diagram of the way it was....which is opposite the way i think it should be:

My Formula stringers went from the transom to the engine bulkhead. The stringers then were attached on the other side of the bulkhead and went forward to the next. IMO both work so long as they are done correctly and don't need to be full unbroken length

Thank you.....I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy or had a totally hacked up boat. It appears to be completely untouched and factory, but just wanted to see some other opinions.

Thank you!

I notched mine just because I could. Figured it would add strength

That is not a bad idea at all, however, doing it in 3 sections would make things much easier for me. PLUS, that is the way the factory did it, so I'm not terribly worried about strength.

My plan as well. Figure if I notch them, I can put the jig saw pizzle together out of the hull and then lay it up in one piece. Eazy Peezy:)

your restoring a boat.....you are already crazy.

the stringers on my Cruisers are like AD's they dead-end into a bulkhead and then start again on the other side. the ones on the other side were at a slightly different gauge , however there was about 1/4" of fiberglass wrapping everything.
