Strange trailer set up

Was looking at this boat, and I've never seen a trailer set up this way. Looks like it's for a different hull. Just thinking I would need to change the bunk set up, if I bought the boat. Not sure what that would entail cost-wise, but thought I'd get some opinions on this trailer here. Thanks.

Edit: I just noticed the guy has the engine running on muffs with the outdrive possibly in trailer mode. Not hard to replace the u-joints, if needed, but that's my 2nd red flag after the weird trailer...

I think that trailer could easily be better fitted to the boat.

1st test, slide boat back to align with the bunks and see what the trailer tongue weight is. If tongue weight is acceptable (about 150-200#), then adjust the winch stand to match the new bow position.

2nd test: If the tongue weight is too little, you will need to move the boat back until the outdrive can be trimmed down. Check tongue weight again and adjust winch stand if acceptable.

it those fail, you will need to move the wheel/axle assembly back to add some tongue weight. They should just bolt on, so movement is fairly easy.

You can redrill the bunks and move them forward for ascetics if needed.

Those trailer guides may need to go or be modified.

Looks like an upgraded aluminum trailer. Having the bunks sticking that far back is odd. Id move them forward if it didnt mess with how the boat sat. If moving them forward doesnt work id take a saw and cut it at the end of the trailer.

SeaRay's were packaged with Shoreland'r trailers, and the 190/210's would have came with 1946's from Shorelander (shorter 19' trailer with twin axles)

this looks to be a yard trailer from a marina (too big for the 210)

if this guy is running the drive in the up position on muffs, what else has he screwed up in the past 20 years on this boat?

I agree. This is a really poor set up.
I'd move the boat back, at least to the point where the transom meets the rear cross member in the trailer. Then do whatever is necessary for proper winch stand location and axle placement.

Not that tough for a DIY'er.

^ no deal, not because of the boat but because of the boats owner

re-looking at the pics, the sides of the hull look like it was painted, including the bilge discharge thru-hull

Or maybe it got the acrylic floor wax treatment to look nice for a couple of months. If that's the case, it's a lot of work, but it can be stripped and redone.

Nice tow vehicle....

Thanks for replies. Luckily for me, but maybe not someone else, the boat has sold. I pretty much wrote it off after seeing outdrive up like that. Figure, if he does that, what else doesn’t the guy take care of!?

Good choice to pass this one up. It's ashame it was subjected to such a bonehead owner, that is a nice looking boat, but yeah.....too many red flags.

Running the engine with the drive up? Jeeze!

And why are the bunks mounted on end? Shouldn't they be flat, not standing on end? Another indication the owner was a bonehead. He did whatever it took to forcibly make that trailer fit.

Guys, look at that second (and 3rd) pic closely! Drive is tilted way up which is obvious, but... There is a jet of steam coming out of the prop exhaust, and there is NO WATER dripping anywhere. Concrete is barely wet. Should be water spraying all over the place. Guessing the guy either had the water off or was just at a trickle.

U joint is cheap, warped heads are not!

You saved yourself a headache!

That "jet of steam" is not steam, it's smoke from burning rubber! The impeller is burning up!
