Why would Mccain ask people to vote for Bush instead of him? Is it a symbolc show of suport for bush? I think I must be missing something obvious here. Maybe this flu medicine is too strong!

Pretty simple. The "Straw Ballot" is meaningless except to throw preliminary support to potential candidates.<br /><br />What McCain is doing is registering his disdain for the so-called rebellion in the party by turncoats seeking to distance themselves from GWB in hopes of elevating their own possible candidacy.<br /><br />We have a President who is being deserted by political opportunists for their own political gain. McCain doesn't do this sort of unethical stuff.<br /><br />Like him or not, John McCain is his own man and true to his own values. This move proves the point.

Thanks. I understood the "straw ballot" I just missed the point that McCain was making a symbolic gesture. Whew! Gotta lay off the cold medicine!
