hello, i am working on my 1977 wellcraft and the floor was shot, so i cut it out and found the stringers needed a little reinforcement, so i was thinking i could use treated lumber oNLY on fiberglass and no epoxy, reason being that if the resin or epoxy cracked water WOULD get in there and would have no way of getting out, and inturn the wood would rott out. so i thought "hey" treated lumber lasts for 30 years in the elements and i thought well if i DONT fiberglass then the wood, it can breath and not rott. This is my thinking, i mean if you think about it i live in michigan where we get CrAzY weather and we have a dock that has lasted 22 years with no problems AND thats out in the elements, so i KNOW treated lumber its tuff stuff, i was also thinking instead of getting marine ply for the floor i am replacing, get treated ply because of my same worries, that i get the ply, fiberglass it, and then it cracks ( which it will in michigans hot and cold weather) then it rotts out, so instead of haveing that happen i thought about a treated 3/4 ply for the floor coverd by boat carpet, so what im asking all of you is, is that a good idea or no? tell me what you think i need all the opinions i can get. thank you for your time guys!!!!
