My stringers have an area of dry rot around the lags. Just curious if someone makes a saddle that is of steel or alluminum that can be mounted to the stringer, then mount your motor mounts to this bolting them on? I was thinking you could use lags and epoxy the saddle to the good wood in the stringer drill holes through the plate, run bolts from under the plate, mount the motor mount to this, then use nuts and lock washers to hold the mounts? Any thoughts?

once rot starts it doesn't stop. replace the stringers, then use what you are talking about. i've never like the idea of lagging the mounts straight down into the stringers.
