Hey there,
How do striped bass taste? I have never had them. I have had large mouth bass and spotted bass and I think they are ok. Do they taste a lot like striped bass?

Re: Striped bass

They are the worse tasting, nastiest, most foul mudsuckers ever.
I'll send you a PM with an address where to send any and all you catch.:D

They are stronger in taste than the other bass. Soaking in salt water over night in the fridge takes care of that.

It is not your typical flaky fish. The flesh has more structure and holds together much more than other bass.
If and when you can get them at a fish seller, they go for 25 to 27 dollars a pound.Mostly because they are very ,very good tasting.

These are sea run bass,I have no idea what fresh water stripers taste like

Do you think he's gonna fall for it?

Rockfish are very foul. The only way I can stadn to eat them is lightly broiled and smothered in a large pile of Crab Imperial. Maryland Blue Crab of course ;)

Broiled or grilled.
I'll wrap it in tin foil on a bed of butter and lemon juice, sprinkle the top with lemon pepper. A little crab imperial on top is always a nice touch.

I had it one time in a Spanish restaurant that was heavenly. It was baked with a sauce over it that was tomato based with capers.

Re: Striped bass

I'm going to Chincoteague this weekend and want to go rock fishing, maybe in the surf or in the bay. Never fished for rock before, what is a good bait, how to rig the line and best times to fish (incoming or outgoing tides) ?

Hit one of the local bait shops.
They'll fill you in best for what's running.
