I have gotten so much good advise from this site that I thought to pass this along. Today while preparing my boat for new carpet and vinyl - I had to remove the old carpet - the best tool I have ever used for this is sold by Milwaukee and its called
Milwaukee 3 in. Scraper Reciprocating Saw Blade
Here is a link -

Milwaukee 3 in. Scraper Reciprocating Saw Blade-49-00-5456 at The Home Depot

I put it on my reciprocating saw and just peeled some very stuck carpet off the floors and sides of the boat. It was amazing how well it worked.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it would work great too. Anything to help others with similar problems is always welcomed...

That does look like it would work but I wonder how easy to control. The scraper blade in the HF multi-function tool would be my weapon of choice for control.

Easy to control if you keep the horizontal angle low - try to keep it low to the surface - I literately wore the blade out stripping carpet. It also works on getting the glue off.
