Hey all, first post, thanks for letting me in!
Anyways, I’m not usually stumped, but here’s where I’m at.

1999 40M, carbs, 3 cyl. Very low hours…. Like 60-90 total hours of run time.

Won’t start.
Getting clean, good fuel.
Spark in 1&3 are excellent.
2 looks a little weak at the plug, and doesn’t light up my tester as well as the others…
Heowever I can make #2 coil create great spark by charging it with one of the feed wires for either different coil- maybe part of my issue, but not the whole thing-
I’m spinning the motor via drill and socket at this point to make it crank, and I cannot for the life of me get consistent hard firing to light it up.
Looking for things to check. Also looking for how to confirm timing is correct- I see markings on the cam, and the tape across the flywheel, but where do I line the flywheel up and compare to make sure the belt hasn’t jumped a cog? Currently when the cam pulley triangle points to the center of the one on the block, I can’t figure out where to read the tape, or timing is way out, etc…

Searching for a legit service manual, can’t find one anywhere! Please help, I’d be grateful….. in Alaska where help is hard to find.
