Hi,
i've been lurking on this forum for quite a while. i'm happy to be a member now.

I've got a '77 Johnson 35hp long shaft w/ remote. It is stuck in forward. I've disconnected the shift cable and tried to shift it by hand, but it's stuck. I've got a factory manual on the way, but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: stuck in forward

Welcome aboard Mark!

Couple things to look at, make sure the mag plate under the flywheel is moving all the way back when the throttle is in neutral. If that's OK, drain the lower unit and check for metal shards in the oil. This is a good sign that things are amiss in the gear case. But check the mag plate first.....make sure it's rotating OK with the throttle.

Keep us posted.

Re: stuck in forward

Thanks OBJ,
It was actually just the spring loaded shifter bar that was binding up on a wire. It shifts fine now.
Mark
