Stuck in gear

I am having a prob after shake down <br />I have a 1974 Reinell with L6 All new and running great .<br />Brand new transom plate and gimble assembly <br />New SEI alpha gen 1 drive <br /> Shift Cable was adjusted perfect was ingaging gear before throtle was acting fine in driveway<br />I put it in the water and seated rings like i always have and ran it about 10 miles to shake any bugs out of the new rebuild found none till i slowwed down and tried to pull it to neutral was tight and didnt wanna leave foward <br />I found the only way to get it to neutral was to shut motor off ,you can feel shifter free up second motor shuts down and it slides into neutral like it should<br />I think I may have put the intermetiate shift shaft in 180 degrees from where it should be <br />Shaft is longer on top from center line of shaft,I put the long end facing foward<br />Hope i explained that ok

Make sure your shift interrupt switch is hooked up and working.<br />When you move the shift Y fork to either side, it should kill the engine.

My shift interrupt switch was not adjusted properly, and DonS helped me figure that out over a year ago.... felt like Hulk Hogan trying to get it in neutral.<br /><br />Manual explains procedure (a very easy one) for checking the switch with a multimeter and adjusting, if needed.
