I went to change my water pump this past weekend, took all bolts off and tried to pull off the lower unit. Unfortunately it did not come off which is odd because i didnt have this problem 2 years ago. Any advice on what i should do?

Do i need to put the motor in gear?

Torch a certian area to free up the drive shaft?

Any advice would be very helpful...

Thank you
Mike

Did you remember that bolt up under the zinc trim tab? Does lower unit drop any at all? I've heard you could let one just "hang there" overnight and they might slide off. Better tie it with a rope so if it comes off overnight it don't break anything! Good Luck!

Yup, took that bolt off as well. I live in Long Island so maybe the cold has something to do with it, who knows. Thanks for the info though!

If it dropped any at all, then maybe 4 or 5 small wooden wedges tapped between that crack could help loosen it up and put some downward pressure on it overnight.
