Lower unit removed

It has salt water use FOR SURE. Bought it for the power. Removed the 4 stud nuts and 2 bolts near the carb. As far as the 6 side bolts (the long ones) 2 came totally out, 3 backed out far enough that i believe they are unthreaded but not sliding out of the mid unit channel. As for the last one? Well, the bolt head snapped off before the bolt would budge. Removed the motor mounts on the top side and the powerhead WOULD NOT BUDGE. So I brought it to the local marine shop. the Mechanic said its probably that bolt shank corroded in there holding it. He suggested cutting through the bolt shank as far up the shank as possible. This of course ruins the mid section but I don't need it so I took the cutoff wheel to it and got through the bolt shank.

POWERHEAD STILL WILL NOT MOVE. I have the motor jacked up with a cherry picker. tried prying on the front near the thermostat and cylinder heads. can't get any movement

Suggestions? what am I missing?

I got the bad powerhead from my current motor off in no time......

I've had plenty of success on Mercs with a 3x2 lump of wood to protect the motor & a sledge hammer to hit them sideways.

So it sounds like possibly I am being too gentle? I don't want to break anything.

I guess you have all the required nuts & bolts out because you have just pulled the old one off?
Hard to explain the amount of force to you, not a great deal of force but if in doubt don't try it.

Yeah I have gone over and he 2 others review that all the bolts and nuts are off. Because I've done that before...... Ha!

This is the 2nd powerhead swap I've done and it really is different with this one. I can't get any visible movement along the joint.
