stuck sending unit ?

hi everyone , my gas gauge says full all the time when the key is on , this morning i took the sending unit out of the tank and if i move the arm on the sending unit the gauge will go up and down . i called the boat shop where i bought the boat and he told me to turn the sending unit abit and put it back in , he said it is sticking on something , anybody ever have this happen before ? thanks ..

Clean the unit and find where it is sticking before refitting, it may be something as simple as a build up of gum or a burr caused by wear. Gum is easily cleaned off, the burr should be easily sanded smooth allowing a few more years of action.
Haven't had this on my Doral but it was an issue on my previous boat for a while, it was caused by wear on the slide a quick sand and it was still working long after I sold the boat.
