Any Suggestions? I have the manual but it only tells me to do the opposite of installation!!

Re: Stuck taking Propeller Off! Help!

It's apparently seized onto the prop shaft. My suggestion is to put the motor on the boat with the prop nut a little loose and run the engine. Use a jam nut or one with a nylon insert so it doesn't come off. This may pop it loose.

Then learn to service the prop at reasonable intervals, and grease the prop shaft.

Realize that when you do that, you are committed to buying another prop or having that one rebushed.

I think, before I did that I'd make sure I could get another prop.

Plus, a propane torch probably won't get it hot enough. You'll need MAP at a minimum.

you could try putting some break fluid on the spline it penetrates better than most things

You could make your own prop puller with chains around the prop blades attached to a two or three-jaw hub puller. Position the puller on the end of the prop shaft. The type puller will depend on the number of blades on the prop. Would also try maximum effort with penetrating fluids like PB Blaster. Never tried brake fluid. Good luck. Let us know how and what you do.

Why not take some time and put putty around the shaft and let wd-40 soak in for a few days. Lightly tap the sides of the prop a few times a day. I had this proplem years ago on an old Johnson and didn't want to spend 280 bucks to buy a new prop. By letting it soak and tapping, it came loose in about 3 days. Key word, don't be in a rush unless you got money to burn.

this is gonna sound funny but i'd heat it up and touch it with a candle, so as to melt it into the spline. theory is wax will vaporize and it gets into places that penetrating fluids cannot get into. Ed
