Stuck Tilt / Trimmer

I have a fantastic old -74 Mercury 150hp but have just recently had a problem with the Tilt/Trimmer which occasionally gets "stuck" in the upright position. No matter what I do it won't go down.<br /><br />Question:<br /><br />a) How could this be fixed?<br />b) Is there a way to bypass the hydraulic equipment and just let the motor down manually?<br /><br />Thank you!

Don't know what's wrong, but to move the motor manually you need to turn the "reverse lock" knob located on the trim pump all the way to the right. Then it should move up and down with a good push.

Probably your brushes and commutator on the trim motor need a good cleaning...<br />Jon

Check the oil level in the pump, it may be getting air in the lines too.....
