Stuffers on crossflow

Hi everyone. I had a set of stuffers from a wrecked motor I bought ages ago. I finally got a replacement intake manifold gasket in the mail and decided it was time to put them in. The stuffers sit proud of the manifold when in position and when I try to tighten up the bolts to compress them down the edges get pinched between the manifold and the casing. I tried a couple of times as a mock up without the gasket and can see the markers on the stuffers. I am worried the manifold will not seal properly. Is there some trick to it?

They fit the motor that they came out of.----These blocks are all the same.----So it should fit yours.----Tried them in a different position ?-----Turned them around.-----Are there marks from reed petal screws ?----Never had an issue installing them myself.

The motor I got them from was plated as an 85hp (early 80s model from memory- newer style trim tilt) however it had 115 carbs on it so not really sure if they were originally from that motor or had been fitted to it by previous owner. I've never fitted these before. The screw markings line up with the screw heads on the reed cage so I feel like they are positioned correctly. Do they not normally protrude out like this? I can't remember whether they did in the motor they came out of.

I do not believe the 85 model used the stuffers.----I believe this will bolt together fine as it is.----If you are worried then take a razor blade or exacto knife and trim them to your liking.
