Stuffing Box

1986 29 foot Cruisers with twin Crusader 350's, velvet drives....

One of the props rotates clockwise the other counter. Will this make a difference on the rotation to remove the packing nut and lock nut?

I managed to get one off rather easily the other I haven't gotten off yet.

Should be the same. Spray with a good release agent. Sometimes tapping will help loosen.Jerry

Well got her repacked today. The starboard engine is reverse rotation, and the stuffing nut and lock nuts are reverse thread as well.
