wonderind what this half dollar shaped thing on my 75 135 johnson outboard does the wire is corroded and im thinking it acts as a charging unit cause something drew my new battery dead,,,please help new boat owner

A picture of the item your talking about would help....some rectifiers are round and half dollar size but dont know what your talking about...

cant do that but its near the starter held on with 2 screws, and has three wires off of it and corroded real thin

Click the thumbnail - which one is it?

If it's the rectifier you should find out what killed it or it will happen again.

It usually happens because of loose battery cables or because someone reversed the cables on the battery.

The rectifier would not draw your battery down, but without it there is no charge to maintain the battery.
