Trevor.... That check valve in itself would have no bearing on your problem. However, should your engine have been in the tilted position and not locked down securely when trailering (both trim rams pulled in), it's possible for the bouncing action to cause a build up of pressure on the wrong side of the oil pump that exceeds the output pressure of the pump.<br /><br />This results in the problem that you've encountered. This may not be the cause of "your" problem, but it is one of the causes.<br /><br />The cure is to remove that same check valve that you removed previously, reach in with long nose pliers and remove the shuttle valve. Look at how it came out so it gets put back properly. Make sure that engine is supported!! Look in that opening. You'll see the reverse side of another check valve. With a small punch of the proper size, insert the punch into the small hole of that check valve. Now, carefully tap the punch with a hammer. This will force the check valve to release the pressure I mentioned and will equalize as it should be.<br /><br />Hopefully this is the cause of your problem. Let me know.
