How do i get the flywheel off of my 1960 Johnson 5.5hp motor? I know it seems dumb, but i can't figure it out. I've taken off Briggs and St. small motor flywheels but just wanted to make sure how to get this one off since it won't budge and i don't want to break it. I'm putting new coils in it, so i would like to get it off. Thanks!

Hi Davis <br /> I use a harmonic ballance puller. Available at any auto parts store.

Just thought I'd add that the flywheel nut should be torqued to 43 ft/lbs.

Put that rubber mallet away... :p In Most auto parts stores you will have to pay the full price of the tool to rent the harmonic balancer puller ($30 or less), but they will refund the full amount when you return it...
