Ok,making sure i get this right.
am refilling my 3.0l cobra, i have it vertical position and am putting the gear lube in the filling hole.
it calls for 60oz, i am at about 30-40 oz and oil is coming out the filling hole. nothing at the top. do i need to pump the oil in the filling hole till i get the level on the stick up top?
i am assuming that i can not merely pour the oil in at the fill hole. i must need to pump it in correct?

Yes, you want to pump from the bottom screw on OMC.

You do not fill Cobra outdrives from the bottom. Do it like this.

Re: Stupid Question Continued....Stern Drive Filling

1990 and later 3.0's used the larger lower housing with a 15 spline propshaft
1986-1989 used 13 spline ("400" series) size lower housings

so I'm not sure you'll necessarily get 64 oz. of lube in all 3.0 Cobras, but you definitely want to ensure it is properly filled. OP gives no year, but a factory manual will give the quantity as does Seloc.
30 oz is certainly not enough.
