I'm installing a 600 Watt Sub this morning. Do I need to run the positive feed directly to the battery or can I run it to my distribution panel and use an unused 20 or 30 amp breaker?
Your amp would be sharing the battery leads with the rest of the accessories connected to the panel, and those leads are probably 8 or 10 gauge. I would run a new lead directly to the battery. The same goes for the negative.
look at the fuse thats in the amp and see what the rating is then wire direct using wire that has been sized for the full load over distance (there good charts online to calculate this). anything less can cause low voltage cut out when volume is at max.
