Submerged Yamaha engine

I have a 1989 Yamaha 200 hp engine which was submerged for about an hour during a rainstorm but then hauled out. It was immediately flushed out and ran to minimize corrosion and the gas was pumped out of the tank. The carburetor was then removed and rebuilt.

After putting the boat back in the water it seemed to run perfectly fine, but after about two hours of running time the engine would slow down even if the throttle was open, when i looked back the bulb was completely compressed as if the engine was starving for gas. I shut off the motor and replaced the fuel filter which is a large white filter not attached to the engine(the engine has a smaller one inside). After replacing it the boat worked fine for another few hours and then the same thing happened again. I replaced the filter several times and the same thing happened every time.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I'm pretty sure that there is no problem with the motor and it may just be something in the fuel line but i am not sure. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

did you make sure you have proper ventilation at the tank after your whole ordeal? .....

You also may have to remove or replace the anti siphon fitting at the tank.

it sound like its pulling a vacuum in th tank therefore the imploded bulb.
