Has anyone used the Taylor Made Sully Stick for your mooring?

Didn't even know they made those.

LOL, I hadn't that of that. Most the guys in my cove use milk jugs with a rope tied to their top chain. They keep them roughly a foot under water so the ice won't grab them. The biggest problem with that is, the lake was at our scheduled low level for the season, it's already 5' higher this year then it was in September of last year.

Yes they do. They typically cost alittle more, but it's worth the $$.

Yeah, that's ice. In the thicker ice it bobs up and down to avoid ice capture. In the thinner stuff it cuts right through it as the ice moves around it. Not only is it round, but it tappers up to a point....80" tall.

The Taylor Sully Stick is the best Ice Log available. I use two of them in Wisconsin Harbors which have about 2' Thick Ice in Winter.
Originally used wood poles which are heavy, hard to clean and water log. Tried a 34" plastic log and it was captured in the ice and torn loose the first season.
You need a long stick which goes below the Ice. The Sully Stick is light and cleans easily and is long enough to be high above the water but long enough not to get caught in the ice. We have 3/8" chain and the buoy will support about 8 to 10' of it. On deeper harbors us 1/4" chain as a leader to the larger chain to obtain the right height of the bouy.
