Alright, I have noticed that my 1995-100HP has lost a little of its va-voom lately.
In looking over the OEM Service Manual, I notice a graph that states upto 14% HP loss in Summer months.

Has anybody else seem this effect?
Any suggestions to increase HP?

Thanks CF.

Re: Summer Heat vs. Horsepower

in 90-100 degree weather, my 150 xr6 seems to lose a little hp as well. It is evident when pulling people sking or tubing with 6 people in the boat. It also bogs a little too.

This is normal though because warm air is less dense the cold air causing the mixture to be a little rich if you dont rejet, and it causes you to lose horsepower since there is less oxygen and the air is hotter. Its the same with all engines. in hot weather, you lose h.p. In cold weather you gain h.p.

Ok...... I was getting a little freaked out that I had some engine work ahead of me.
More engine work = less fishing.

Thanks.

Like the manual says......the only cure is to wait for fall and cooler weather......and it says that if it's a problem, change to a lower pitched prop to pick up the torque you lost.

Re: Summer Heat vs. Horsepower

Does this mean you need to adjust your Idle settings differntly for Spring versus Summer and back in the Fall?

My 2 + 2 is picky when slow Trolling, so I need it working almost 100% or she starves or hiccups.

Cheers . CF
