Sump box for fish box and bait well

My 96 Trophy 2352 has a sump box that the fish boxes and bait well drain into. I gather the drainage drops into the box and is pumped overboard. It seems that the bait well is up high enough to drain overboard. I don't know why it drops into a sump box.

So, the question is, how well do the sump boxes work? I would hate to have the pump fail and find my bilge full of water.

I have a 98 2352 with the same junk.Mine quit working due to crimp wiring soon after the boat was new.The problem is the fishholds drain fish blood and nastyness into the sump and overflows into the bilge and gets to stinkin up the cabin.I'm in the process of losing the tank and installing masserator pumps.
