Sump

Seems that my sump is rotten and oil is leaking it is a volvo 200 v8 1985 i think . My qustion is how much room under the engine would i need to remove and replace it. without taking the engine out or is it possible to jack the engine a little bit to help remove it thanks in advance Phil

getting a sbc oil pan sealed well is tough enough when the engine is upside down on a stand, so even if there was room, good luck sealing it properly working upside down.

There are some cool 1 pc gaskets on the market now- they have the front timing cover seal and pan rails all in one composite piece.
