Sunbird Gas Tank Capicity

Anybody know how much gas this boat holds - 1990 Sunbird Barletta 204. I know it holds atleast 25 gallons based on fillup when the gauge shows low fuel. But I don't think the guage is that accurate. thanks

Are you sure about the model number?<br /><br />In the 1989 brochure there is <br /><br />Cuddy 208 with 155 litre tank<br />Barletta 228 with 240 litre tank

Yes, definitely sure about the model #. There is a sticker on the dashboard stating the model. Also, when I went to the NADA site to check the value, the boat was listed.

Call Sunbird and ask for customer service. They will most likely tell you. If not get a spare 6 gal tank and run the main dry. When you fill it that will be the capacity. If it does not match the reading on the fuel guage you probably need to replace the sending unit in the fuel tank - a fairly easy job.

Unfortunately, Sunbird has been out of business for atleast 5 years. I was just hoping someone had the same boat and could tell me. I was hoping not to run it dry because I didn't want to hurt the engine.

Sunbird, I own a 1991 Sunbird Corsair 205 which, when I bought it, was told holds 33 gallons. I bought it a little over a year ago and have never filled the tank from empty..always filled it before gauge went below 1/2 -- never trusted boat gauges, especially the fuel gauge! I would think your 204 would be around the same..?? Let us know if you find out anything different.

thanks guys, 33 gallons sounds possible. usually i don't let it get below 1/4 tank. But once I did and I thought I was on fumes because the guauge read empty. The boat then took like 25 1/2 gallons. When it warms up, I will see if I can take a measurement of the tank and try and do the math to find capacity. I just don't know if I have enough access.
