Sunpad, seating options on Searay 175

Looking at a used Searay 175 for a great price. However, it has the sunpad option. Just looking at the pictures, it looks like the sunpad seriously cuts into the seating area in back. Anyone have any experience with the 3 different seating configs on the smaller boats especially with respect to kids? Are there some benefits to the sunpad that I am overlooking? Or is this just not an issue?

(I know, buy a bigger boat. 185 maybe, but thats as big as I can store or tow. And this 175 is a 2010 with 6 hours for $16.5K!)

Thanks!

I have a 97 searay 175. It has the bench seat in the back, 2 captains chairs then the seating in front. Our typical day on the water is 2 adults, 2 kids, maybe a 3rd. Kids typically will want to sit in the bow anyway.

We have had 3 adults in the back with a small kid or 2 squeezed in.

We have had up to 8 on the boat but it is tight. Not so much with people..but all the stuff that comes with the people.

We have the sun deck on back and love it...especially when wifey is laying out in her bikini 8)

Sunpad is a great upgrade IMO! The people in the rear get to sit next to each other and the pad is great for your lady laying out (SWEEEEET) and for sitting when watching the kids swim. You feel like you loose some space, but the reality is that with the captain chairs you don't loose much. I have a 195 with this option now and upgraded from a 175 and my buddy has the next size up from me and to be honest they are all about the same size with the loss of about a foot considering the different size motors etc.

Re: Sunpad, seating options on Searay 175

Thanks everyone for your responses!

I went to the local dealer and sat in their 175 w/sunpad. The bench seat was actually very comfortable, and the storage areas are a nice touch. The dealer said that was his only 175 in stock, used or otherwise, so there wasn't anything to compare it to. He also mentioned that the sunpad configuration was the only way they ordered them, so anything else would be a custom order.

Thanks to the responses here and the dealer trip I felt OK buying the used one w/sunpad. (Though I still like the idea of having the kids a foot further away and isolated in their own bucket seats....) :)
