Hey guys im just wondering if anyone knows any way to get a hold of any info or anything on Sunray. Yes I tried searching and such but only came across a pontoon boat manufactuer in Florida... I dont think that they would go from making Bowriders and Cuddys to pontoons unless they did which I dont know of. Reason being is my dad just got his first boat-a 1988 Sunray Mirage and hes looking for info... Since im pretty much the PC guy of the house I tried some things and the best I was able to get was some for sale adds and an abandoned MSN group that was dedicated to the Sunray boats. I believe they are Candian built but im not betting anything at this point. IF anyone can point me in some sort of direction I would be glad for any advice. Heres a pic for the reference in case some dont know what im talking about.

http://www.brownsmarina.com/usedboats/Prelude.html

This is what I found.

Sunray Boat Company, Utah.
In business 2/1/73
Out of business 2/1/98

Fiesta makes the new Sunray boats which are pontoon boats.

Yes...the ones you are thinking of were built in Canada and suffered the same fate as some others like Thundercraft. The Mirage if it's the one I'm thinking of was a 24 or 25 ft mid cabin cruiser. Very nice boat, we actually seriously looked at a new one in 88 or 89. It think at the time it was priced just under the $50k range, just couldn't do that kind of money at the time. I'll check through my archive of old brochures and stuff but a lot of it got hit in a big purge a few years ago.

Re: Sunray boats...anyone know anything?

I see I see. Thanks for all the help. I kinda figured that would happen....we picked ours up for around $10000. Reason being was apparently most people cant afford gas anymore and just want to get rid of them but another reason too in our case was it was parked at a marina up in Orillia and what happened was since there was no trailer they made a deal with my dad and he was able to get the marina up there in exchange for the slip I think to transport it to Port Perry Marina where we keep it now. Nice area but very shallow...you pretty much have to keep to the lane leaving there. Its not that bad at all...has a bathroom and cooking area and the usual sitting/sleeping area at the bow then a crawl into one under the driving area. Only thing was ours had a broken ram that was part of the assembly for lowering and raising the motor, then the trim tabs messed up and there was some electric problem one time where things just seemed to go and we were basically drifting coming into the marina again. Then in there the linkage for the drive broke so yeah it wouldnt go out of reverse so we had to drift it into port....good times....

Sounds like quite an adventure! I've spent a bit of time in Orillia....nice place.

The boat looks like it should be a lot of fun, with many conveniences. Good luck.

My boat would make a nice tow-behind for the Mirage..lol :)
