Supporting floor at hull

Looking at the old floor coming up it looks like the original wood was ground down to fit above the curves of the hull. It is attached to the stringers and glassed in to the hull but has no support under the edges at the hull.

Is that normal or should I be putting something under the edges? I understand it should not be "hard" contact - but they had nothing at all....

Re: Supporting floor at hull

that is a really really good picture and a great question.

the deck,,,(floor or sole) is supported by the frames the frames run across the stringers, every 4 feet. so to make a backing plate to screw the deck to.
the frames themselves are glassed in. then the deck is screwed down WITH NOTHING AT THE DECK HULL JOINT. then you use peanut butter or a good construction adheasive for the deck hull joint....i used structural peanut butter......(see hull ext thread....about 5 pages from the end....appeox pg 75 or forward)

then the deck is tabbed in with fiberglass from the top.....

you it seams weak....but its not :)

cheers
