On mine it pushes again the actuator so it can push with not enough force to hold the breaks down if something temporarily snags it a bit. With that said there is a point of no return. If the lever gets pulled hard enough moving it forward enough there is a bracket that will snap behind it preventing the lever from removing pressure from the master cylinder. I presume this is to keep the breaks on incase everything breaks away from the truck.
