Surge Brakes

I am buying a Tournament V-18 to tow behind a Ford Ranger and I thought it might help to have surge brakes installed onto the trailer. What should I expect in the cost of parts as well as labor to have them installed?

I bought a surge brake kit from Northern Tools which consisted of the brake actuator, hub/brakes & brake lines for $500 delivered. I installed the kit myself.

Do you have brakes on the trailer now? If not then check behind the wheels to make sure it will accept a brake kit. It will be a small ( 4" X 4" ) + - piece of metal to which the brake assembly bolts on. If nothing there then add some money for that installation.
