Hopefully you guys can give me a clue where to start. I've got a '95 Regal with a mercruiser 5.0/alpha 1. Ran fine all morning. Cruising along about 3200 rpm and it started acting up. It loses power like it's going to die, then surges back. Starts fine and idles fine. Ran about 5 miles back to my slip and as long as I kept it about 3500+ rpm you could still feel the surge a little but it made it. Between 1000 and 3300 or so the surging is pretty bad.
The variables - about an hour before this started I refueled at a reputable marina. I carry an extra fuel/water separator filter. Changed it when it started acting up but it didn't seem to help at all. It's also 104 degrees out, but engine temp and oil pressure are normal. Oil looks normal.
Suggestions where to start?
