Think this might be a nice place to post thngs you have when you have anatural disaster.

I have my camping equipment, stove, coolers, and the like. There are many people who deal with these things somewhat on a regular basis who can give others tips. Have put a diverter in cars to get gas for gen if needed.

I have a gen and plenty of dry foods and canned goods at all times. Have buckets to collect or transport water from sorse it needed for none drinking water. Have developed things to cook from such things we have on hand.

Always have chicken on hand and cream of chicken soup and dry rice.

Flour and brown chicken, pour soup on top, add 1/2 normal soup water, turn to simmer. cook rice as directed, when rice is done so is chicken eat soup over rice.

What do you do when you have to go days or weeks without madern conveinance?

A source of water that is often overlooked is the tank of the toilet. NOT the bowl. The tank is fresh water before it hits the bowl. It is usually a couple pf gallons thatis just sitting there.

We have a gas fireplace with a pilot light. The generator will keep our refrigerators going for quite a while with the fuel I have on hand. Mother in law is on a well so water is not an issue. Also a spring is not far from us that has great quality drinking water. As for food we have decent selection of canned goods available. By biggest concern is not running out of food but having th ecrawl space flooded. Fortunately we have a river to the south of us that is about 50ft below our level so even that is not a real concern.

The biggest thing is that I have found out is that you don't panic. Have always had an backup heat sorse for lose of power in the winter till this house that is the reason for the gen.

You've got 40-60 gallons of fresh water in the water heater.
