Mark the oil tank where the level is.

Run the engine on 50:1 mix (to protect it in case the oil injector isn't working) until you have burned about 6 gallons of fuel.

Check the level in the oil tank again. It should be down about a pint if the injector is working.

I don't think I ever heard of a Suzi oil injection failure, if that is any comfort.

Good luck. :)

Re: suzi 85hp

it is comfort, and i have run many about 12-14 gallons thru it and the oil level has barely moved, i didnt know if it was scavenging oil (opposite with gas) when i first bought it i ran pre mix in the tank
and had to add oil, but now it SEEMS like it is using less?? i didnt know if there was a magick something to find out if it was using the proper amt of oil.

ill mark the tank (mabye tomrrow) and run the hell out of it and see

i just dont want to lose this motor(it has been a very trouble free, easy to work on and maintain engine)

While you are in there you might think about cleaning out the oil tank and replacing the oil filter (screen) puck underneath the oil tank. Also check the oil lines for cracks and age. The Suzuki system is very reliable if these things are maintained. If theres any question about the oil rate, the manual gives a oil consumption rate that can be measured with a syringe and some extra hose for the low (idle) and max (WOT) oil pump settings.

lines are brand spankin new, didnt know about the filter. ran it for about 3 hours today and found a new problem, an alarm, very loud beeping. it shuts up when it is turned off and started back up again, i think it might be some kind of overheat---but it is pissing just fine. weird week not so much worried about the oil anymore, i think it is working, just the beeping

your water flow switch could be bad. if the engine is staying cool but the alarm is goig off, disconnect the switch and see if it quits. if it does, replace the switch. if the beeping continues, check your oil flow switch the same way.
