I can't get more than about 1300 rpm's at wide open throttle. She will die if I let her idle. She ran fine a few weeks ago. All three carbs have been rebuilt last week and there were new plugs put in a few weeks ago. Fuel filter is fairly new also. I have heard bad temp sensors could make this happen. Is there any way to test them. I've also heard the oil sensor could do this, but the gauge on my dash shows plenty of oil and there is plenty of oil. Any suggestions as to what to look for next would be great.

What happens if you press the choke while at WOT? If the engine speeds up then it's a fuel delivery problem. Also, if you ran it low on oil, you may need to reset the oil switch by pressing the button on the motor. I believe the engine kills spark to 3 cylinders when the low oil alarm goes off.

-Rob

No other warnings. I will try the switch, but I'm pretty sure I already did that. I also tried the choke and it didnt work. Thanks.

try spraying 50/1 premix down the carb throats, after doing the spark and compression test, why did the carbs get rebuilt ?

I just figured it was the carbs. Thats why they where rebuilt. She will start right up and run. I just cant get the rpm and have to putz around the lake. I also noticed today alot of fuel in the water while it is running but nothing is leaking. Probably coming out the lower unit exhaust. Its not the reset button either. Compression is fine and I have spark to all 12 plugs.

My 115hp suzuki did exactly the same now that I think of it, what happened to mine is the waterpump was cracked, the engine will start and idles fine, water pump works but pump a bit weak than before, but as soon as you open the throttle it will not get rpm's, it will seem that the water pump is doing it's job just not as strong as it should be, the sensor in the lower unit keep the rpm below a certain rpm .... I took off the lower unit and replaced the whole waterpump assey .... problem solved

Thanks, I'll check the water pump. Pretty easy to do. I found a fuse that keeps blowing coming from the Rectifier and running back to the cdi unit. Could that be causing any problems??

I haven't checked the waterpump yet, but there is no sensor in the lower unit according to the micro fiche on this model so I don't know if it would be that. Besides I just put a used lower unit on this year and checked the impeller when I did it and it was fine. It has a strong stream coming out of the pee hole and there are no warnings.

I had similar problems, I bought a stratos with a 150 suzuki and it was fine for a few weeks, then no rpm bull****. Three rounds of plugs, constant web searching, and a summer. I found the issue, ****ty oil!!! After I ran all the old stuff out of it I put in Kendall, it was again a dog for 15 mins and when the new oil got into the motor, it was fantastic, I could feel the boat just start to get better every second.
