Here in Sitka, Alaska some cat style boats with twin 250 Suzukis have developed water ingestion problems. Anybody heard of any similar issues with Suzukis? I am thinking of buying a 250 for my next repower.

Re: Suzuki 250 water ingestion

hello
some boats develop that problem with any motor. seems they sit to low in the water and in certain situations seem to pull water back in through the exhaust. its fairly common, even though the engineering design can hold the weight and power seems the engineer forgot about the water line and the fact that the exhaust pipe is submerged in water. are the idle reliefs submerged when sitting static in the water ? if so there is no good cure. sometimes the relief can be drilled on into the exhaust tube to vent the tube. othertimes we reccomend never shutting the motors off at sea due to the wave action forcing water up the exhaust. thats a lot of weight back there and as the transom sinks in a trough the next swell has a tendancy to force the water on up.

READ THE WARRANTY FIRST.

If your engines suffer corrosion damage for any reason, Suzuki will not cover it. FYI
