I purchased a used lower unit for my 96 Suzuki DT115 after the original crapped out. I am in the process of installing my new/used unit to run because I only have 21 days left on my 30 day warranty. I would like to take a look at the magnet on the shift rod to see how much metal is on it. (I couldnt stand it, I had to take the broken one apart to see what happened. Looks like the upper bearing on the shaft broke up and contaminated the unit with tiny roller bearings. Thats when I saw the magnet on the shift rod) I have ordered a manual but it is over two weeks late and I cant file a grievance until next week and then they will have to send another manual, blah, blah, blah. My question is
Can you simply pull the shift rod and just stick it back in or is there a more complicated procedure to re-installing it? My future goal is to take it apart and look at everything as well as replace the seals.
