Suzuki DT115 Serial number

Hello there, I am new here, I have just recently purchased an 1974 Wellcraft 185 sport that came with what I was told was a Suzuki DT115. I looked on the port side of the outboard bracket and there was no numbers. I have looked just about everywhere else with no luck. Is there any other way to find out what year my outboard was made, and if it is even a DT115. The cowling was replaced due to being broken so no luck there. Thanks in advance.

I too have a Suzuki DT115 and can't find an engine number so don't know what year it is. Going by the water pump shape it would appear to be 1981-85 but I really would like to know for sure.
I am replacing the water pump and have a few queries about that e.g. is there no seal at the top of the pump on the shaft (I can't find evidence of one but feel sure there should be)?

What color is your motor cowling and block

Thanks for replying.
The block is a silver with a gold tinge (but may have been repainted); same for the cowling.
The cover has been resprayed gold.
Would you know where the engine number might be on the engine block?- I can't find one anywhere! The details on the little plaque, on the outboard mounting bracket, have been obliterated, so no info there!
