My tranny grinds into gear in both forward and reverse and it seems to slip when under load. I notice it mostly when I turn sharp under throttle. I have to stop then start again. What kind of repair bill am I looking at?

This could get expensive replacing a gear set.

The fact that it is worse in a turn concerns me.

Check your shift cable length and routing, to short and too tight a turn at the engine so as to 'pull' on the cable in the turn can cause the shifter to pull on the shift fork causing premature wear, and eventual gear engagement problems as you are experiencing.

Replacing the gear set and fork and NOT curing the original cause dooms you to a repeat of the failure.

Re: Suzuki DT225 tranny issues

The slipping could be a weak prop hub and in the sharp turns it could simply be water cavitation around the prop. Most outboards clunk or grind when going in and out of gear, it's just the nature of the beast.

That is the best news I have heard yet. I have a buddy who owns a prop shop and I will run it by him and get him to have a look at it. Thanks for the replies everyone. Give me some directions to go.
