you can go to Google at "Yamaha outboard performance tables" and it will give you a pretty good idea of the miles per gallon, gallons per mile, best cruising throttle settings for a given motor/boat combination. I always cruised at around 2500RPM's, but the table says that my best mileage per gallon is actually at 3500RPM's, so slower doesn't always mean better MPG. the boat really needs to be up on plane to get the best mileage. I'm not sure if Suzuki has these tables but the Yamaha motor with the same horsepower should be very similar. check it out and good luck!
