suzuki DT4 won't pee please help????

The motor wouldn't pee on our last outing. We took the lower unit off and the water pump was toast. We replaced the water pump and the motor still won't pee. There seems to be exhaust gas coming out of the water exit hole. Does this meen that there is a busted gasket or a hole between the exhaust and the water exit?

when I flushed water backwards through the motor with the lower unit off, water came out not just from the hole where the water pump sends water up, but also where the drive shaft goes up in to the motor?

Remove the spark plugs and check for water droplets on them.This would be a sign of a leaking head or exaust plate gasket.The water coming out around the driveshaft is normal as it mixes and cools the exaust.If only the impeller was changed you may have a worn out housing and wear plate.

How hot did the engine get? Did you get all of the pieces of the pump out of the motor. pull the thermostat and check for pieces of pump. You could have melted the rubber gromet that the pickup tube sets in at the powerhead.

these are good suggestions I'll try them. When we replaced the water pump we used a kit that replaced the plate the impeller sets on.

also the motor runs great, it just doesn't pee. If it had water in the cyl. would it run great?
