Suzuki DT40 Impellor Problem

just bought a 2nd hand Suzuki DT40 manual start, problem is its not pumping water when using muffs, also tried it in a tub of water just covering the water inlets. Still nothing ? Ive not tried it in the sea yet as I need to be sure its OK. Will it need a deeper depth of water to pump with ? Ive put a new impellor on and thats fine.
Also when starting di I need to give it throttle or not ?

does it run at all? We do not know what year and modle # and have no idea if it has carbs, chokes, or anything else about the motor.
Pull the tube off the water indicator and make sure it is open and if water will come out of tube.
you may have missed the tube seating into the water pump when reinstalling the lower unit or did not install the pump correctly
pull the lower unit again and put a water hose on the water tube going up to the head and see if you get water to come out of the indicator with the water pressure from the hose. That will tell you if water will come out where it is suppose to and then you can concentrate on where the problem is

Yes the engine is running Ok, I just don't want to boil the thing. sorry dont know year and its too dark to see now

Are you sure you installed the impellar the correct way?
