Hi,
The tube that allows the water in my cowling to drain appears to be clogged. I have tried to blow it out with my air compressor to no avail. Question: how difficult is it to replace this tube? It runs from the cowling to the foot. Any other suggestions on how to free up any debris?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Suzuki efi 200

Would someone be kind enough to simply tell me what this tube is called so that I can do a search? I have tried drain tube but can't find anything that helps. I have ordered the manual but it wont be here for another week.

Thanks,

1998 DT200.

Yes, I saw that yesterday but it doesn't really show what I am looking for. I would think this is something every motor has and I can't be the first person to have this tube clogged. I seams that it would be a common problem.
Thanks,

Re: Suzuki efi 200

I'm confused.

The tube that goes to the lower unit is for the speedo pitot tube. It makes sense that blowing it out with a compressor wouldn't do anything trying to exit out of the tiny pitot hole.

Please provide more details on what is happening.
Is your lower engine cowling taking on water and not draining for some reason??

Most lower engine cowlings have holes drilled in them to let any water drain out. Not attached to any tubes. Sometimes these can clogged up with debris/grease.

Re: Suzuki efi 200

I had water enter the cowling via the hose connector that allows for flushing the motor with a garden hose (the seal had come loose and salt water entered the cowling). It wasn't a bunch of water but just want to keep it from happening again.

In my starboard motor I can pour water in the cowling and it immediately drains from a tube that exits next to the zinc anode on the foot or gear housing, however on the port motor it does not drain. I am certain that it is blocked with debris or grease but don't know what i can do to free it up. I have tried the air compressor but it didn't help. I am somewhat mechanical and don't mind attempting to replace the hose but know I will have to disassemble the lower engine cover to get to the hose. My question is: is there anything that I need to be aware of when attempting this? Any seals that I should have on hand because I will have to replace? Or is this pretty straight forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
