Hi all, I am new to this.. I just purchased a mfg boat with a Suzuki 85hp oil injected outboard, have not ran it much yet (just got it yesterday and there is a blizzard today..) Wondering what common problems are on that motor and also, I heard that Johnson made Suzuki outboards at one time? ( or visa versa..) If so, would that lower unit be same as the Johnson 70hp?? I am probably WAY off here, any help???

Suzuki built only certain models of motors for Evinrude and Johnson since the late '90's. They had different wiring harnesses and some minor differences, but essentially the same motors.

none of the two strokes shared anything. suzuki built some 4 strokes for OMC and BRP but I understand thats gone now.<br /> so nope the two lower units are way way different and share nothing.
